Y&T Music is known for being the label that launched the music careers of The Mavericks, Mary Karlzen & For Squirrels as well as other independent artists, like Amanda Green & Arlan Feiles. Founded in 1991, Y&T released the highly acclaimed debut album by The Mavericks, which led to their signing with MCA Records. In 1993, Y&T released the debut album by singer-songwriter Mary Karlzen. After placing Karlzen’s videos on CMT, TNN & VH-1 Country, Karlzen signed with Atlantic Records and released the well received “Yelling at Mary “ album in 1995 with contributions from Jackson Browne, David Hidalgo & Kenny Aronoff.
In 1994, Y&T Music released “Plymouth,” an EP by For Squirrels, an up and coming band from Gainesville, Florida. For Squirrels subsequently signed with Epic/550 Music and released their major label debut; “Example”, produced by Nick Launay, in 1995.
Y&T Music has continued to release a wide variety of original music projects by Amanda Green, Chlorine, Arlan Feiles, Mary Karlzen, & Drew Weaver (with members of The Mavericks backing). In addition, Y&T Music has released two award-winning albums by The Chickadees, a children’s music group based in Milwaukee.
Rich Ulloa also is the founder of Yesterday & Today Records, a leading independent record store for almost 20 years in South Florida. Y&T hosted many in-store events & live concerts by many national and regional artists. Included are The Ramones, Soundgarden, Toad The Wet Sprocket, 10,000 Maniacs, Green Day, Juliana Hatfield, Marilyn Manson, Belly, Fishbone, The Mavericks, They Might Be Giants, Nitzer Ebb, and many others.
